EVENTS FOR 2010
SATURDAY 24 APRIL This West Country tour took in the Pugin Rolle Mausoleum and St Mary's Church at Bicton in Devon, the Poulet family crypt and monuments at Hinton St George, followed by a visit to Rampisham Church, part designed by Pugin.
SUMMER We are planning a number of guided visits to the
Mausoleum of Thomas Hope in the Deepdene, nr Dorking, Surrey. The Trust aspires to work with Mole Valley District Council to uncover and restore this neo-Grecian mausoleum of 1818, which is the sole surviving structure built by the Regency designer. The next visit is on 14 August. Please contact

The 2010 meeting was held in The Gallery, 70 Cowcross Street, EC1 on Wednesday 9 June.
SEPTEMBER:
Heritage Open Days: five of our six mausoleums will be open: Sacheverall Bateman at Morley in Derbyshire, Boileau at Ketteringham in Norfolk, Nash at Farningham and Wynn Ellis at Whitstable in Kent, and Heathcote at Hursley in Hampshire, see News page for times of opening.
2011Depending on interest from Members, we hope to accept an invitation from the Follies Trust to join them to tour
Mausolea in Ulster. The event would take place over three days/two nights, based in Belfast, with members to make their own way to the city. We are also hoping to make a visit to Edinburgh. Expressions of interest to the Secretary, please.
EVENTS in 2009 included:
A guided tour of the UK’s largest cemetery, Brookwood Cemetery, established in 1852 and still in active use; the visit includes the American Military chapel and First World War graves.
An evocative tour in south Hampshire in the company of The Willis Fleming Historial Trust, taking in the WW1 Stoneham War Shrine of 1917 and other secrets of North Stoneham: Southampton Old Cemetery and the Nicholas Mausoleum (1902); and the Greyladyes Mausoleum (c.1910).
Annual General Meeting, held at The Gallery, 70 Cowrcoss Street, EC1. The Guest Speaker was Gavin Stamp who give an illustrated lecture on The Imperial War Graves Commission after the Great War in France and Belgium.
A guided tour of two of London's most significant burial grounds, St. George's Gardens and St. Pancras' Gardens, with MMT Chairman Roger Bowdler.
A lecture in the City Church dedicated to Norway’s patron saint … ‘Funerary Culture in Norway: A Different Story’ by Oddbjørn Sørmoen, a Senior Adviser at Norway’s Directorate for Cultural Heritage, currently on secondment in the UK as Special Adviser for Places of Worship at English Heritage.
A Study Day in North West Norfolk organised by Dr Julian Litten, looking at some mausoleums and monuments at Tittleshall, South Acre, Narborough and Stow Bardolph.
An Arts & Crafts house in South London kindly opened for the evening by the owner.
